“HMOs are regulated under The HMO Act of 1973 (42 United States Code Section 300c-300e-17 [1976 and Supp. III 1979]). Under this act, member physicians must agree to give at least one-third of their time to HMO subscribers.”
The textbook does not elaborate on what this means and I have tried looking up section myself without much success.
I'm unemployed, and due to my previous self-employed consultant status, was ineligible for unemployment benefits.
I've been paying thousands per year for the last 10 years in premiums and deductibles. I recently learned about medicaid and it's free if your income is below the poverty line (mine is).
Furthermore, I have been racking up medical bills this year. Is it true that medicaid pays your last 90 days of medical bills? Is the coverage comparable to what I have currently with United Healthcare? Does it cover normal doctors and MRIs and that kind of thing?
I've heard some horrible things on reddit.
Do doctors take medicaid? I mean like every doctor, is the coverage similar to what you have with usual insurance?
The minimum required income to get ACA subsidy is $12,800.
I'm on unemployment.
If I cant get work in 2021, my income will be less than $12,800.
If I enroll in ACA, I will owe $714 of the monthly premium amount in 2022 because I did not qualify for that subsidy.
Correct?
I need SPECIALTY healthcare
None of the SPECIALTY doctors (gynecologists) will schedule in advance an appointment to see me UNTIL I show proof of insurance, up front.
The risk
I sign up for ACA, and am told that a specialty doc cant see me for 3 months.
Then we run into 2022 because I need a hysterectomy.
I end up owing the $714/mo premium because I didnt qualify for the subsidy
And all I got was maybe a one time consultation in 2021
ACA isnt affordable. Its restricted to income and if the income isnt sufficient, I will pay the full amt.
I cant get hired anywhere. A discussion about employment isnt the focus of this post.
I need to see a gynecologist
Not obstetrics, but for middle age gynecological issues.
Planned parenthood is not an option. Walk in clinics are not an option.
I have a pending lawsuit for an employment law matter. I filed it pro se.
As a result, no gynecologist will see me.
As an uninsured patient I went to the ER about my medical issue and was told I need a hysterectomy due to multiple fibroids. Laproscopy isnt an option, birth control isnt an option. The only option is abdominal surgery.
But no specialty gynecologist will see me. They keep cancelling their appointments, stringing me along.
A paralegal told me its because I have a pending lawsuit.
I got a letter in the mail today from that gynecologist stating, "Dr so and so will no longer be your doctor, because she cant maintain an effective physician/patient relationship and cant provide optimum care."
The gynecologist office said last year that they would offer charity care for me to have the procedure. And then this year, withdrew that option
This State wants people in poverty (not working) and on Govt programs.
I need to work, and I need work that covers housing, car and healthcare.
So therefore, no gynecologist will perform a hysterectomy or even do a biopsy first to rule out cancer.
Uterine cancer runs in my family.
The hospital financial advisors wont speak with me. Their insurance dept wont speak with me.
I had questions about if I enrolled in ACA, how soon would I be able to see a doctor. And no one could answer that.
ACA isnt free. I want to know if I would be denied gynecological after enrolling in ACA too.
But no one will speak with me.
I googled this hospital'a health system and they have many lawsuits from patients and internal employees.
There is a shortage of hospitals in TN. And the other hospitals will not see a patient unless they have actul insurance, but before I sign up for ACA, they wont give me an idea of how long it would take for me to see a doctor.
I am preparing my Will and burial plans just in case. If I cant get healthcare, then I should prepare for end of life costs.
Does anyone else get that health care rewards card in the mail that lets you buy food at walmart? But each time i swipe, it declines (even when balance is 30$) does anyone know how to use it at the cashier? (My health care is 'washington coordinated care').
