So I’ve been going to a neuropsychologist for a few months and he recently diagnosed me with OCD, ADHD, and Autism. While I’ve been meeting with him, I mentioned to him that I’ve used cannabis in the past and it’s helped with my anxiety. He suggested I get a medical cannabis card and start using it again if it helps with my anxiety. He also made a recommendation to my regular physician that I be on Adderall for my ADHD. He explained to me that he thought I should be on Adderall instead of the OCD medication because it works faster and managing my ADHD would also help manage my OCD.
I regularly see an APRN so she couldn’t prescribe the Adderall and instead referred me to another doctor to get that prescription. When I went to that doctor he refused to prescribe me the Adderall because I was not on OCD medicine and he wanted me to use that first before using Adderall. The exact opposite of what my neuropsychologist wants. He also said he will not prescribe me anything unless I take a clean drug test and am off the cannabis even though the neuropsychologist agrees I should use it. The nurse who was there disagreed with the doctor and tried to argue with him on my behalf but he is refusing to help me.
I may have to find another doctor but is there anything I can do about this? Is there somewhere I can complain about his behavior? The nurse privately told me he’s an AH and patients have problems like this with him all the time.
