If you have an HMO and you visit an out-of-network doctor then you often have to pay full price for the visit. My question is, if the out-of-network doctor writes you a prescription for a medication covered by your formulary will the insurance still cover that medication or does it need to be from your HMO assigned doctor?
Since this question seems sketchy let me clarify. I couldn't get an appointment with my HMO doctor until later this month, but I can get a prescription called in by my current doctor without an office visit to last me until that visit.
