Rights as healthcare staff

So we have a pt who is a murderer. He’s told us this. He got out of prison not long ago for this murder. We would have never known otherwise. Problem is, he’s also losing his mind half the time, becomes belligerent & gets verbally & physically aggressive. Our facility has tried to find another place for him but nobody will take him. Apparently he’s allowed to hit & kick us, throw stool & flick boogers at us & threaten us, just not other pt, but he has put his hands on another pt before, & threatened another. Do we really have no rights? He’s constantly trying to come into the nurse’s station & trying to get into everything. One of the nurses routinely lets him sit at the nurse’s station & I do not think that helps at all. He becomes extremely aggressive when I tell him he can’t come back here & he honestly scares me. I’m night shift & it’s basically just women in our facility. They won’t let us call the cops on him. I feel helpless.
