If I wanted to make a difference in healthcare, where would I start?

Hi everyone new to this sub.

I’m just curious how laws get created and passed and implemented regarding American healthcare.

For example, if a large amount of the population had an issue with how they were being diagnosed and treated, like a consensus that something is wrong and people are dying because of it: where would that change start?

If it matters: my background is sick family members since birth: cancers, kidney failures, epilepsy, & more…combined with working as a nurse tech for about 5 years in ICU’s and medsurg units and a current job in law.

My most prevalent experience is recently going to get help for an illness, and getting 4 different prescriptions from 3 different doctors in a WEEKS span. It just.. none of it seems regulated or overall helpful and trusted doctors go home on the weekends and send us off with bills & death fears. I hope this doesn’t come across as a rant; I’m just really curious as to how to make a difference or if it’s even possible.
