I fully believe that people who are permanently disabled, terminally ill, and people over 70 should be allowed to end their lives with medical intervention. I really don’t understand why assisted suicide is widely illegal when it could be controlled by having at least two medical professionals confirm that they are of sound mind and that their health will not improve. I think this would ease a lot of people’s anxiety over death as well as better prepare their families for their passing. People would be able to get all their affairs in order and take the stress off their family as what to do with their body after they die. It also would prevent the pain and suffering of late stages in diseases or old age. Families would not have to watch their loved ones detiorate or spend tons of money and time for their family member to live a low quality of life. It would also lighten the healthcare worker and facility shortages, and decrease poor quality care due to overpopulation. I don’t understand why we try to extend life as long as possible, the sad truth is that most of us will probably be senile and wasting away at the very end, so why not end it on a postive note. I think we should even be able to sign legal forms saying that if we ever do become disabled or terminally ill and are not of sound mind, we want to be euthanized. Modern healthcare has made a lot of things more comfortable and easy, so why not death?
