Can’t afford employer plan

I just started a new job and the monthly cost to cover myself and my husband is $900. I can’t afford this and have never been asked to pay this much in my life. Can anyone tell me about their experience paying for insurance via the government? I don’t qualify for Medicare or Medicaid but can use what gov offers (Priority Health I believe?)
