I'm graduating college and my health insurance through my school will end after 12/31. I am looking at getting short term insurance through United Healthcare to cover me before I get a job in a few months. I know that short term insurance doesn't cover pre-existing conditions (which is absolutely insane, this whole thing is a scam, but that's beyond the point). So my question is, if I have a pap smear that is abnormal (which it might be because my last pap was abnormal) and I need to get a colposcopy or even the LEEP after that, would that be covered, or would United consider that a pre-existing condition? The short term policy I'm looking at says it covers outpatient surgeries (which these are classified as), but not pre-existing conditions.
Does anyone have experience with United healthcare short term insurance? Or getting gynecological care while enrolled with short term insurance?
