Whenever I go to a hospital or clinic, I get the worst treatment due to various aspects of me. It makes every hospital visit painful and not worth it. I'm shocked how cruel and judgmental healthcare workers tend to be, to me anyhow, when they're supposed to go into their field because they truly care about people.
Specifically, I'm asking about UCSF's ER in SF. I've gotten horrific treatment there in every way, and no one goes to an ER for nothing. It's like being slapped twice - first for the health issue, and 2nd for judgmental, hurtful, extremely slow treatment. I'm always treated rudely, and made to wait much longer than other people, every step of the way. The waiting every step of the way is unbearable, especially if you're cold, hurt, and afraid. Even with milder or more severe problems, I see that more attractive people, of other ethnicities, are seen much quicker every step of the way. It's been consistent through multiple visits now. I see other people in and out in an hour, while I have to suffer through 7-10 hours of being there, every time. I've noticed that other people of my ethnicity are stuck waiting there forever, the last in triage, with the most wait times in between nurse/doctor visits in the ER rooms, too. And whenever people like me ask politely about the wait time, or when the next step is coming, staff snap back rudely.
They're condescending in many ways, and don't listen, and just treat people like me like we're less valued and less than human.
I've submitted complaints to Patient Relations multiple times, after most visits, and it's always the same rude response, like denying what happened. And when I go back again, nothing is fixed - I get treatment just as bad as before, with different employees. It's horrifying going there.
Where else can I complain, and make them actually change their ways, and make future visits as comfortable as possible, and make them give me the same level of respectful, warm, timely care they give other patients?
