Can anything be done if you suspect a provider did something medically unnecessary?

For the background, I've been having some gastrointestinal pain since after a bout of COVID. Went to a GI doctor and the first thing he wants to do is a Colonoscopy/EGD with no other treatment plans before this. I call the insurance company and they said it will be covered fully since it was a colonoscopy, so I'm fine with getting the procedure done even though it seems like an aggressive first step to me.

Fast forward to the bill coming: Nothing with the colonoscopy is covered because the doctor performed a biopsy. I was never even aware the biopsy was done and during the follow up the doctor said there was nothing wrong with my colon. During a phone call with the provider, they tell me the same thing, everything about the colon was "normal" and that sometimes the doctor does "random" biopsies. Not only is the colonoscopy not covered, but the pathology from the biopsy was also not covered. I feel like I went through colonoscopy TSA and came out a two-thousand-dollar loser. Still have symptoms, so do I just eat the bill and find a new provider?
