Need to cancel work health plan but don't have many options. Can I get any plan and use that to remove my wife from my policy?

We can't afford the cost of our health plan right now and my job won't allow us to cancel it unless we meet certain criteria.

I can remove her from the policy though if she gets her own health coverage.

My question is, will non ACA plans meet that criteria? I'm looking at plans on healthinsurance.net that I can enroll her in outside of open enrollment.

My plan would be to use that health plan to remove her from my policy to save money and then cancel that plan.

Is this feasible?
