CVS has been sending me daily texts messages saying "you are invited to watch a video about [DISEASE]" with my diagnosed illness in plain text where I redacted it for this post. These show up on my lock screen. Most healthcare providers will send a message to notify me and redirect to a secure portal with some way of verifying my identity, or if they call will ask to confirm it's me with my birthdate or something. CVS is just sending SMS in plain text about it, unsolicited. Is this legal? I really don't want the risk of someone seeing my diagnosis, it's a private matter. I just blocked the number they're coming from for now, but I'm afraid they'll send more from a different number. Is this illegal? Seems like it violates some sort of healthcare privacy laws.
