My co-worker's 340b story

One our office worker's explained to me how expensive it is to buy insulin for herself as she has suffered from type 2 diabetes for years. She gets paid hourly and makes minimum wage while supporting herself and her son and sometimes having to work a part time second job working nightshifts as a waitress. A month ago she purchased discounted diabetic insulin through 340B which she never knew she was eligible for in the past. Due to this she does not have to work as many shifts as a waitress and can spend more time with her son and feel less stressed about affording insulin that she needs to survive. I thought it was worth sharing her story of a federal government subsidy drug program that I never heard about before myself, but is clearly making a difference in ordinary people like my co-worker who just want to receive medicine she needs at an affordable price. My hope is someone reads this and can inform their friends or loved ones about programs like these so things can be just a bit easier for the people that need it the most.
