I'm going through a background check for a new job in another state and I disclosed that I had been diagnosed with asthma when I was younger. It's well controlled now and I don't take medication for it currently. The background check screening agency is requesting that I either obtain a doctor's note stating that I can work the position without needing an inhaler, or get a prescription for a rescue inhaler.
I don't have insurance right now and my old primary provider is across the country. I asked the walk in clinic near me if they'd be able to write a note to the screening agency, but they told me that is only something a primary healthcare provider can do. I don't have the time or insurance to wait to find a provider and I'll be moving soon anyways.
What are my options here? Are there other places that could give me an exam and clear me to work? Or would a clinic be able to write me a prescription for an inhaler and hope that's good enough for the pre-employment screening agency?
