Hey guys, I hope this doesn't sound like just another discussion on the high medication cost here! I've recently been trying to find as many discount sites for medicine as possible, and it's a much less widespread concept than coupons for most everything else. While it's easy to just say drugs should be more affordable for everyone, I think it's important for us to research deals (as few as they are) as often as possible and for independent companies/app developers to make it easier for us.
Between sky-high prescription prices and insurance companies that make it hard to get the meds you need, it can feel like you're stuck between a rock and a hard place. Still, we don't have to just accept this as a fact of life. There are actually a few ways we can fight back and make medicine more affordable. Other than putting pressure on big (and small) companies, as well as the government, using coupons and discounts is our best bet, especially as many pharmacies could use it for their benefit to compete with larger chains.
For example, if you're taking a popular but expensive medication like Humira or Lyrica, you could potentially save hundreds of dollars per year by using a coupon. Of course, finding legitimate and legal offers is essential, but there are easy ways to prove this works, like allowing people to review and talk about them, just like you'd do for shopping on Amazon or eBay.
Another simple solution would be an app that allows people to get notifications for the newest discounts on medicine. Currently, forums are the primary source of information for deals and coupons, but this isn't always enough. Sites like Charity Rx, which finds free coupons, can be even better with an app. Some extra ideas include free samples or even free home delivery.
The only real con is that you might have to do some extra legwork to find the best deals, which is much better than overpaying, especially for recurring buys (often the case with chronic pains).
