Example: John Doe comes in for a physical exam and while there, the provider goes over some acute or chronic issues. The provider adds on an office visit charge to the preventative health visit, due to the discussion of the non-preventative issues. The patient gets a bill later on for their copay or deductible and wants to know why (and they’re usually upset).
I get why patients get upset when they get a bill after coming in for a physical. Sometimes, the provider prompts the discussion of those issues, the discussion may be brief, or the patient may not fully understand that just because they scheduled a physical doesn’t mean that everything discussed during the visit will be covered.
