I went in to get tested for COVID yesterday and noticed something weird on my discharge paperwork.
The paper said I was told to go to the ER and refused, so the clinic isn’t liable for anything that happens as a result, death included.
They NEVER told me to go to the ER. What the person actually said was to go to the ER if I wasn’t able to breathe or started turning blue, which I obviously agreed to. I get that places like this like to be liable for as little as possible, but writing a fictional scenario that ultimately blames me if I have a medical emergency seems trashy and I am not sure it’s legal.
Is this normal or is this something I should be concerned by?
