Hospital bill for one night is 44k - is this an overcharge?

Wondering about a bill from a recent hospital stay. I had a rapid heart beat and went to the ER. They did an EKG and xray and all was well, but my bloodwork showed elevated troponin so they admitted me to the hospital for suspected cardiac arrest. I was transferred and given a room in the cardio floor. I had a heart monitor on while I was there and they did an echo and ran some bloodwork. A handful of doctors came to talk to me. All total, I spent about 7 hours in the ER and about 18 hours in the hospital. It ended up being SVT and they sent me home. I've seen bills from most of the doctors and from the xrays and some bloodwork and they're all fine, but the hospital bill (facility service) just posted to my insurance and it seems a bit steep - it's $44,000, which the insurance lowered and paid 12k of and i am to pay 2,300.

Does this 44k sound like an overcharge for one night? I haven't seen an itemized bill or EOB yet, but it seems to just be the facility fee since all the doctors, tests, etc. are being billed separately. I was in there one night and didn't even eat any food and wasn't even given a gown to wear.

I've never been in the hospital before and have no idea how to proceed with this bill. I think it's ridiculously high.
