Spouse has medicaid, I have my parent’s insurance

I got married this year and my wife has Medicaid. My income is above the threshold for Medicaid so I would have to get insurance from my job for myself to get her some health insurance as well. The thing is I’m still under my parent’s insurance. My wife was told by a doctor that since I’m still under my parent’s, that my income doesn’t matter. Is this true?
