Oscar health reimbursement confusion

Hey everyone,

Need some clarity on my situation if you could help :)

I went and got a vaccine recently from a CVS Minute Clinic in AZ - where I live. I knew that Oscar Health - my insurance - would cover the cost since it is preventative care. A couple days later I received a charge from CVS for the vaccine.

Confused, I called Oscar. They said they did not get a bill from CVS. More confused, I called CVS and they said they charged me because MinuteClinics cannot bill preventative care (???). So I asked for an itemized bill and submitted that to Oscar for reimbursement. Oscar returned to me and said they needed the vaccine submitted by the provider as preventative care to reimburse me… but CVS just told me MinuteClinics can’t bill as preventative care.

Can someone a bit more knowledgeable fill me in on what I am missing here? Am I just going to be lost in a bureaucratic hell and eventually get denied and be on the hook for the vaccine? It is by no means life changing money, obviously, but it’s enough to care about the outcome. Pretty frustrated since both Oscar and CVS seem to be pointing at each other and saying “it’s their problem!”

Thanks for the help. Cheers.
