There seems to be this false narrative in the US that teeth are aesthetic only. Most states Medicaid doesn't offer it. In my state, the legislators quietly removed it. The VA only offers it to 100% service-connected disabled. I'm not eligible for Medicare and by the time I am I doubt Medicare will still exist.
I have infections in two places with a third developing. My case is complicated by an extremely rare condition of 5th row molars, which mean having too many teeth had left me with hooked roots. A dentist can't simply pull it. It has to be surgically removed under sedation. That is very costly. I use weed to control the pain when I can get it. Once the pain so bad my only route is euthanasia. I have a system set up.
I was assigned the dental school for any care I need. One school I went to, I was told I am too complicated. A student at the dental school where I live now, pulled one and I screamed so loud I think I scared people away. I know I was never afraid of dentists before then and now I am terrified.
All my life dentists have said leave my teeth alone until it becomes a problem. Well, it's a problem and I can't afford to address it.
