Went to ER for covid as a visiting US expat (living in Australia). Can they make me pay?

Of course I got covid while visiting the US instead of my now home country of Australia where, ya know, they don’t charge you for seeking help when you think you’re dying. The admin team didn’t take my phone number or address because I didn’t have a US number and their system wouldn’t allow them to enter a foreign country address? So all they have for my details is an emergency contact (my sister). Can they come after me legally for not paying if they have no way of actually contacting me for payment?
