I have been seeing a very prominent ophthalmologist in my City for a few years dating back to when I was active duty. I was diagnosed with Keratoconus and was able to start seeing him instead of an on-base doctor. Long story short I am now out of the military and trying to get my disability paperwork in order. I called his office to see what the process of getting my record would be.
They can either fax it, mail it, or I can pick it up in person for the cost of $1 per page(single sided). I also asked for a summary letter which would run me an extra 10-15 and I can understand that, they are taking time out of their day.
I asked them to email me a digital copy of my record and they said they don't have a secure server to email it, but they have emails...I said I didn't mind and I'd sign the page giving you permission to send it to my Gmail. They wouldn't budge.
This seems ludicrous! I know I know "it's just a dollar" but it's a bigger picture. This Dr has made so much money off of my procedures & visits both when I was in and when I got out.
Is a dollar too high? I expected 25 cents. I'm going to pay it either way because I have no choice but I needed to vent 😂
And again! I know people have bigger problems but this really irritated me considering I just spent a week arguing with them about charging me for a procedure they never did and they wanted me to provide proof they didn't do it -_-
