Getting married this year, fiancé qualifies for high APTC, how will we be affected?

Hi! Just wanted to get some clarification on how my fiancé’s tax credits will be affected this year.

I make $58,000 a year and my job provides health insurance, which covers dependents and spouses.

My fiancé makes $25,000 a year and is a student, so she qualifies for a pretty high APTC. About 90% of her premium is covered. She needs health coverage from now through September, which is when we’ll get married. In September she will be covered by my job’s plan, and she will cancel her plan through the marketplace.

My question is, what will happen when we file our 2022 taxes jointly and our official household income goes up? Is she going to have to pay back her credit from now to September? Will we have to pay any of it back since we’ll cancel it as soon as we get married?

It would suck to have to pay a lot of it back. She’s only planing on taking advantage of it until she can join my plan and she drops her plan.

Any guidance on our situation would be great help!!
