My father has an adrenal deficiency which has lead to issues with regulating sodium. We now know the signs of when he is having a drop and will bring him to the hospital for them to regulate and possibly put him on a regiment to bring his sodium back up slowly.
In the past, when on his standard PPO plan, they would keep him in the hospital until his sodium was back up to the "safe" point of 136. My dad is now on Medicare, and during his first stint of drop during his Medicare coverage they decided to release him from the hospital with sodium at 131 (where he was at when he arrived, "low" but still not a deadly level).
This might just be paranoia on our end, but should we expect a change in care between medicare and PPO?
