Copay question

I went to a specialist and had a procedure done. I payed the copay and he wants me to see him in a week to see how im healing. The question is do I still have to pay a copay for the visit, or is it covered from the last copay? I ask because he mentioned that it wouldn't cost me anything and I was confused later on because I was under the impression every visit you have to pay the copay amount. Thanks
