I am working with a community development project to create better childcare access and affordability for our healthcare workers. I feel like I need more support from our local hospital system. My current contact has not been very enthusiastic. Does anyone have experience working with medium to large healthcare systems in addressing this need? Does anyone have on-site childcare or worked on developing these solutions?
I truly believe that childcare solutions for healthcare workers would lead to better care for our patients, as well as increase the pool of available workers. I have seen and put together plans to use state funds, employer funds, and employee funds to create an affordable solution. For instance, our local mall has plenty of space available and is the perfect location just across the street form the hospital, we would just need to work on buy in from the hospital and a contracted childcare organization. Was hoping the collective would have some insight into how this problem has been addressed specifically in other areas.
