I had my first ever ER visit last month where I only saw a triage nurse. They recommended I go to an ortho surgeon the following morning, which I did. Now I have just gotten the charges through my insurance for the ER visit and I'm looking at $1,500 out of pocket (I have used $0 deductible this year). I see a lot of people here and on personal finance always say that you should push back on the healthcare billing provider. I can afford the $1,500 if needed, but should I be calling them and challenging them anyway? I'm not from the US originally so having to pay $1,500 for less than 10 minutes of triage time, a couple of injections and a set of crutches is blowing my mind. Any advice on if I can / should push back on them for a reduced / realistic cost? Thanks!
