[Question - Other] I'm a writer looking for confirmation of/assistance with medical details in a story

I am writing a story in which one of the characters escapes from excessively tight handcuffs by dislocating the first CMC in his thumb and the fifth CMC in his pinkie to move those parts of his hands into his palm. The actual WIP quote where this is described is "He dislocated the first CMC joint, which is the joint that connects your thumb bone to your wrist. To do that, he tore basically every ligament in that saddle joint, which is insanely painful. And he kept going! He dislocated the fifth CMC joint in his pinkie by, again, tearing pretty much every ligament!" Completely ignoring the pain factor, is this realistically possible, and am I using terms correctly? I learned this stuff from personal research on the internet, so I have no idea how realistic it is. Also, if this isn't the right place to ask, could you please recommend where else I could ask? Thanks :)
