Hi everybody, looking for some advice here. Last night I think I tore my quad muscle (couldn’t move or walk on it) and couldn’t find any urgent care places that were open. I’m not a US national so this was my first time really seeking out healthcare since I’ve moved here. I ended up going to an ER close to me, that is in my insurance network. They gave me some injectable pain killers and muscle relaxants, wrapped it tight and gave me crutches and said I should call orthopaedic tomorrow. All in all I was there for 30-60 minutes, and with the nurse for maybe 10 minutes max. I asked about billing and they told me I need to wait for finance. I’ve not used any deductible yet so I imagine I will have to pay for all of this. My question is, if I google ER visit cost I’m seeing $2,000 as an average? Is this really what I should expect or is this $2,000 an average of people who have much more treatment than I have had? It would be great if you guys could give me any estimate as to what to expect.regardless, I’ve learned my lesson here in that ER should be life threatening only. It’s crazy how different / confusing the healthcare system is out here when compared to my home country. Thanks in advance!
