Rare genetic disease is very expensive to diagnose and manage. Some rare disease is autosomal recessive and can be prevented if a pair of carriers do not have biological children together. We are interested in going “upstream” to prevent disease at the source.George Church co-founded a genome augmented dating app called digiD8. On this platform, two people with recessive mutations in the same gene would be excluded from each other’s list of available dates. What are some risks and benefits of this app, especially from this company’s position? Would you recommend this company invest in digiD8?
