So I have been an independent contractor for about 3 years now and have a U.S. marketplace plan with a $300 subsidy based on last year's income. I'm still hourly but just this month made the switch to full time W2 employee. I work full time hours and realize I may not be eligible for the government subsidy anymore. I'm okay with paying more for insurance and I'd like to stay on this plan but I've seen some very vague guides on the government healthcare website saying if I receive an "affordable" offer from my job I'll be required to cancel my existing plan immediately and settle for the worse insurance my employer offers.
Do I have to explicitly cancel my plan? Or can I just keep the plan I'm already enrolled in and just waive the subsidy for this year?
