thoughts on petroleum jelly? can't tell if it is clean beauty approved?

what do you guys think of petroleum jelly (vaseline/aquafor) for healing skin dryness and burns and stuff? It's been a staple for me but i've recently had better luck with Drew's Honeybees salves and I actually kind of wonder if petroleum jelly makes things worse. wondering if anyone knows more about the chemical reaction it actually has with skin
