I see constantly see things about the shortage of docs. I also know standards are much higher than they were even 20 years ago to matriculate into medical school. Does this have any benefits to society, the health system or to physicians in general?
For example, there are not enough US students to even fill all residency spots. I read up to a quarter or residency spots go to physicians trained abroad. Even on top of this, there is still a shortage of physicians after residency!
