Back story: my coworker (J) and I have been assisting our former coworker (V) who we consider family. V has congestive heart failure and is not long for this world. J has an HR type position so she had taken on the responsibility of the paperwork and insurance side of things, I have been the brawn; I’ve begun cleaning out her home for her to get ready to sell while she stays at a nursing home and I shop for her and am the main visitor as she doesn’t have anyone local besides us.
I’ve been ruminating on the idea that we are good at this and could take to assisting others as well. I brought this up to J and she’s in, so I’m trying to a bit more digging now but need some assistance, does the type of care we are providing fall under respite or something else? We do have day jobs so full time assisting isn’t on the table (yet). Any other knowledge or advice on this subject would be much appreciated.
