I'm researching specialists for a friend and I'm trying to understand what constitutes a conflict of interest. All the articles I've read make it sound like most money from drug or device companies is a COI and therefore bad. But consulting fees seem up for interpretation (to me). ?
Here's a cardiologist for example. He got very little from drug manufactures, but over 30k each year in '17 & '18 for consulting fees from device companies. I'm thinking this could be a good thing, if the companies are paying him for his knowledge. I found nothing searching for link to the doctor and the device manufacturer. So I can't tell what the consulting fees are
Any thoughts on this?
