U.S. student/citizen here who has been trying to self-educate on the U.S. Healthcare by reading random books, most recently "The Healing of America" by TR Reid.
One of my interesting takeaways was how admin costs are ridiculous and how the France [also read Germany has something of this sort as well] has developed a green credit card called the Carte Vitale to circumvent these issues by digitally storing the patient's entire medical records in this card while making billing extremely convenient as well. As I read about this, I was wondering what are the barriers to adopting this and why the U.S. hasn't tried adopting this approach yet.
