Why did my armpits become dark using Tom’s natural deodorant?

I used:

It doesn’t contain baking soda so why did this happen? My mom used the for her variant and the same thing happened to her, I was betting it wouldn’t happen to me but it did. We’re black btw. What’s the remedy for this?
