Hello guys,
My father is battling prostate cancer at the moment and we've run into a huge problem. Under his current insurance, his treatments are covered for the most part. He has great state provided health insurance. He has been forced into early retirement and is now on disability.
The problem is now coming from the Social Security aspect of it. They are saying that my father must use the health insurance of their choice, which is an 80/20 split...
If you aren't sure about prices of cancer treatment in the U.S., a single shot that he receives often costs a whopping $20,000. You can do that math of what he is going to pay with his 20 split. The insurance he has now is covering said shot.
Any suggestions or takes you've got will help tremendously... I'm not even sure if this is the right sub for this, I apologize if it isn't. Thanks in advance.
TLDR: In order to continue receiving SSI, they are trying to force him into using an insurance of their choice, which is going to put my parents in a terrible position as they only made $15,000 last year...
