African Black Soap Smells, Should I Use It?

I recently bought a bar of African black soap on Ebay. It was packaged in a sealable pouch but the actual bar of soap was wrapped in plastic wrap (Saran Wrap). The plastic smells bad and well, plastic-y, and the soap does too. Would the plastic chemicals go into the soap? Should I still use it? Any help is appreciated! :)
