My current job is behind on paying us for two pay periods. I found out on Friday that my insurance is gone now too (despite the money coming out of my pay check every time). I called the insurance company and they're saying the employer sent in the policy termination paperwork at the beginning of the month and everything charged that month will most likely be re-billed without insurance. I would owe a lot of money if that happens.
My company says that they only found out yesterday, but the insurance company says otherwise and I had been hearing the rumor for about a week. They say to be patient. I can't be without insurance.
I have a potential way forward, but am worried about the gap between employers.
Is it possible to get health insurance elsewhere for 3 - 4 weeks? I doubt my company will cooperate with a request for Cobra.
Could I go on my wife's insurance for that small an amount of time?
Is my company liable for anything here?
(I'm trying to leave out some information because I don't want my employer finding this post)
