I have 1b type of hair, it’s long and it’s natural shade is a dark coffee brown. (roots grow pretty much brown black).
The sun bleaches it naturally and it’s not a look I think matches me so well, I have used permanent and demi color on it, I finally decided to put henna over it.
I read that putting henna, indigo, amla powder and a pinch of salt is a good way of getting a “cooler” dark shade, not sure if this is relevant but I used regular tap water. I am very happy with the results, I was always scared of going too dark but wow I love it!
There are a a few points against though, first is that the indigo is fading fast :/ (leaving me with reddish tones.. like before), I also feel a weird itchiness behind my neck, it’s getting uncomfortable.
Would I be able to dye over it with a semi (or maybe even demi) hair color if I don’t want to commit to it anymore?, I wanted to get to get rid of the redness with a brown-black (or even black already), not anything lighter.
Should I do a strand test on hairbrush hair first? To make sure there are no metallic salts..?
My henna says 100% pure (will have to research though)
