What are your thoughts on how to remodel healthcare in the US?
What would you change and how?
So watching this farce of discussions to end the US Government shutdown, I am mulling over what a truly universal healthcare model will look like.
The US governments (Fed and State) across all channels (Medicare, Medicaid, VA, etc) spends about $2 Trillion across healthcare and life sciences (includes Medicare, Medicaid, VA, and CDC expenditures).
Employers spends about $1.5 trillion on employee plans.
Pooling that to pay for universal healthcare is part of a solution, but addressing inequities in Pharmacy (drug cost) model, and wildly inflated pricing from providers and hospital systems need to be addressed as well.
