Can I know my results over the phone?

In January I got my Annual Pap smear and I was told that I the office called me, that meant that there was something wrong. the office called me a few days after to schedule an appointment to see the doctor so she could discuss the results with me. I was there for less than 7 min. She said that I had abnormal cells and that I should come back in a few months to see what was wrong because they didn’t know yet. I got another Pap smear done a few days ago (6 months later since the last one) and they called me again saying that I needed to see the dr again. I asked if it was possible to know what was going on with my results since I can’t really afford to see her again. The receptionist said “no, I don’t even know what you have. You have to come” I said I really can’t go at this moment. She said that I had to cause the results were “worse”. It feels like they just want my money, and I get it, they’re a business, but I feel sad and upset about that. That time that I went only for 5 min for her to tell me that I had to come back later on, I had to pay. It doesn’t feel fair. I was wondering if anyone knew if it’s an obligation to see the dr to know my results.
