The other day I got a prescription for medication via telehealth. The prescription was sent to the pharmacy and that was that. Today I went to the pharmacy to pick it up—the pharmacy is in network with my insurance and the medicine is also covered by my insurance so I assumed there would be no issues. Turns out, my medication got put on hold because the DOCTER who wrote my prescription, not the medication or pharmacy itself, is out of network (and is out of state as well. Read: telehealth). This is the first time this has happened to me. If the prescription was already written and approved and sent, does the docter who wrote it have to be in network as well? I’m in NY, does this sort of thing vary by state?
