New job’s insurance premium is $1,500+ a month. Is this typical?

I recently started a new job at a small company. In my past four companies I haven’t paid more than $250/month in medical costs. This place is offering two plans, one that costs $1200/month with a $3,000 family deductible and $1500/month with a $1500 family deductible. I mentioned that I thought these were very high and was told they’re less than the national average. I get primary care through the VA and only use insurance for my wife and children. Should I look at maybe getting a different plan from the marketplace for my family or would these costs be about the same?
