Most effective way in the US to get antibiotics?

Moved to a new city with spouse and child. Child has a pediatrician but parents don't have a PCP. Spouse complained of sore throat and we got an email from child's school that strep is rampent. We are all on hdhp. Spouse went to urgent care in the area, $165 to be seen and tested which came out positive. Who knows what other charges there will be. Got the antibiotics relatively cheap. Child is sniffly but seems fine as am I, but should probably get tested. Seems nuts that we would both need to go the urgent care route and shell out a minimum $330 out of pocket for tests and a script, $495 for the three of us. Just wondering what common sense alternatives there are? Urgent care is WellNow which, to be frank, doesn't have a good reputation.
