Refused to be seen by doctor as they accepted my primary insurance but not my secondary?

I showed up for my appointment at a new doctor only for the receptionist to tell me they were canceling my appointment if I didn’t pay out of pocket as they didn’t accept my secondary insurance. However, they accept my primary insurance, which I was told beforehand was okay. I’ve had many doctors accept only my primary and never deny me or tell me they were refusing to see me. They just don’t bill the insurance they don’t take. What is going on here? I’ve never had this happen.
