Ontario, Canada - 78 y/o elderly father, hip fracture, late stage dementia, pulmonary fibrosis - they are forcing him out of the hospital in 10 days whether eligible for rehab or not!!!!

We were not ready for this. At all. We are so unprepared.

My father celebrated his 78th birthday on Dec 10, fell and broke his hip on Dec 12, had fixation surgery on Dec 14, and on-top of all of that his dementia went from mild stage to LATE STAGE literally overnight. He was also diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

They don't even know if he is eligible for rehab at this point due to his cognitive ability. But regardless, they are sending him home in 10 days. They basically told my mother and I that he is "no longer their problem" and that LINN (formerly CCAC) will be in touch with us for home care.

HE NEEDS AROUND THE CLOCK CARE!!!!!!

We obviously need to go on a wait list for an LTC home but in the meantime my mother CANNOT do this, even with a PSW only coming in 2x a day!!!!!!

What are our options? Does anyone have any advice or resources they could share to help me figure this out???
