If I have family insurance for me and my son and my deductible is reached but not the total family deductible does it mean my insurance will start to cover more with my stuff but not his?

I don’t know if that makes sense, I’m getting hit with like 8 grand in medical expenses and it’s ridiculous and I just want to get my deductible paid so the insurance actually does something.
